Matthew 20:24

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, vaunteth...: or, is not rash

And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? to envy: or, enviously? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
