Luke 8:24

Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: sentence: or, answer Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. gat...: Heb. found me Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. They go up...: or, The mountains ascend, the valleys descend Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. raiseth: Heb. maketh to stand They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. are...: Heb. all their wisdom is swallowed up Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. I looked...: or, Look on the right hand, and see failed...: Heb. perished from me cared...: Heb. sought after I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off. I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon. Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
