Luke 16:25

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. which are: or, by they...: or, their children are full

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: offend...: or, cause thee to offend

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. in wealth: or, in mirth Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. a green...: or, a green tree that groweth in his own soil Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
