Jeremiah 18:20

For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. spoiling: Heb. depriving

And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil. And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not. delivered: Heb. shut up For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.

Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.

The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.

He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.

For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
