Isaiah 15:4

From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate. desolate: Heb. desolations

Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul; Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures; long: Heb. wait Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. life: Heb. bones I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.

And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

And Jahazah, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,

And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.

For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea. stretched...: or, plucked up Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen. the shouting...: or, the alarm is fallen upon, etc

Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon, Nimrah: also called, Bethnimrah Shebam: also called, Shibmah Beon: also called, Baalmeon Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:
