Hosea 8:12

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. destroyed: Heb. cut off

That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Open: Heb. Reveal

Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: true...: Heb. laws of truth And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:

Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.

And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them. shewed...: Heb. made them to know

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.

He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. his word: Heb. his words He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
