Esther 6:6

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence. Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?

And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour, whom the king...: Heb. in whose honour the king delighteth

And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. turning...: or, ease of the simple

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. righteous...: Heb. righteousness

Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. assuredly: Heb. in truth, or, stability

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
