Acts 4:3

And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, marketplace: or, court And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. harmless: or, simple But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. stretched...: or, began And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. of this way: Gr. of the way
