1 Timothy 5:23

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. oil...: Heb. to make his face shine with oil, or, more than oil

Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; holiness: or, holy women false...: or, one who foments strife

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. prevert: Heb. alter of any...: Heb. of all the sons of affliction Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. of...: Heb. bitter of soul Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; given...: or, ready to quarrel, and offer wrong, as one in wine

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.
