1 Kings 12:8

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; equity: Heb. equities To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. discretion: or, advisement A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand? And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel. determined: Heb. counselled

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him.
